Quiet Night In – English comedy video event in Amsterdam
Quiet Night In started with a few friends meeting up for an afternoon of telly comedy and waffles in our home town of Amsterdam. A good time was had by all, of course, and we wondered whether there might be other people out there who would enjoy it too. Turned out there were.
We’ve done been doing Quiet Night In (QNI to its friends) at irregular intervals since April 2007. There have been changes along the way, but the basic principle remains the same: QNI is an evening of comedy video compilations, and it’s really funny.
Who
Steve Green selects the comedy, Mark Poysden is the master of ceremonies and Nicole Beutler makes the waffles. There are usually live sketches by the Comedy Cover Group. And after the comedy is done, DJ Alec Smart shifts gear and takes us off into the night.
The comedy
Over the course of the evening, there are three 45-minute sets of unique comedy video compilations. The material ranges from witty to absurd to black to disarming to shocking to stupid to clever, tickling pretty much all the places the best comedy can get to. It’s a rollercoaster. But in a good way.
